With great solemnity and the participation of numerous clergy and faithful, as well as the presence of the Regional Governor of Western Greece Mr. Nektarios Farmakis and representatives of the local authorities, the inauguration of the Museum, the Library and the Archontariki of the Holy Church of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Patras, took place within the framework of the Sacred Protokliteia celebrations.
Following the Vespers service in the magnificent Church of the First-Called Apostle, His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras presided over the Blessing of the Inauguration. In his address, he spoke about his long-standing desire to create these new spaces in the New Church, in order to preserve and exhibit the Holy Relics and sacred artifacts, to offer a fully accessible Library for scholars and researchers, and to provide a place of hospitality, love and care in the beautifully designed Archontariki and its auxiliary rooms.
The project was made possible by utilizing the large, previously unused areas located in the upper levels of the Church.
His Eminence warmly thanked the Regional Governor Mr. Farmakis for his support and contribution, offering him as a blessing an Icon of Saint Gervasios of Patras, together with heartfelt wishes for personal and family health and continued success in his work. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the Proistamenos of the Church and Protosyncellus Archimandrite Fr. Artemios Argyropoulos, the clergy, deacons, staff of the Church, as well as the contractors, craftsmen and workers who labored with zeal to complete this project.
In his response, the Regional Governor expressed his cordial thanks to His Eminence and emphasized that he will continue to support the important work carried out in the Holy and Apostolic Metropolis of Patras, commending the spiritual, liturgical and social ministry of the local Church.
After the inauguration, a guided tour of the new facilities was offered, followed by a small reception at the Spiritual Center of the Church.
